Target Goal #1- status: attained.

by - July 04, 2018

I have 4, possibly 5 targets set for myself in my "getting healthy and making positive changes" lifestyle improvement plan that is happening the year before I turn 40.

Last week I hit one of them; I am down 10 lbs.  It took me a bit longer than I hoped but the important part is that I stuck to it and made changes over the course of the past 8 weeks that have now become routine in my life.

So what do I do when I hit a goal? I celebrate.  This goal's celebration came in the form of a photoshoot with my blogging BFF, Abbie.

Let me tell you why this photoshoot was important to me.  One, it made me feel beautiful.  Abbie's presence also does that as she is a lifter-upper by nature.  Our photographer also had a way of making you feel comfortable and absolutely radiant.  Check her out here.

Two, I would never have worn this outfit 10 lbs ago.  I hate tight shirts and tucking things in for that matter.  But that was 2 months ago and I am feeling great right now.

As I start working towards goal 2, I know I have an uphill battle.  I tend to become unmotivated and rebellious and I am hoping that I will be able to look back at these pictures and see how much I've accomplished before I throw my progress out the door.   And that's another reason this photoshoot was so important to me- sometimes we need that reminder of what our potential can be.

Outfit details:
Graphic Tee- old from T&J designs
Skirt- old from Simons- my sister originally bought it and I stole it from her.  Christy pointed out this one at Simons which is similar
Shoes- old from Steve Madden- good story- bought these while shopping in Vegas with my blogger friends after consuming copious amounts of wine.

Here are some pieces I'd buy now if I wanted to recreate this look:

  1. Congrats! And good for you for celebrating with a photoshoot - you are beautiful Deena!
I was a WW leader for 15 years. The program works! And listen, slow weight loss is the way to go. It's achieved because you made small changes while living your life so you'll be way more likely to maintain it. I used to tell my groups all the time that I'd give any one of them $25 if they could lose 10 pounds in two weeks but they'd have to replay me if they couldn't maintain it for 2 weeks. Slow and steady wins the race every dang time.
I gained over 60 pounds each time I was pregnant. I lost close to 50 pounds with WW 18 years ago and I have kept it off. You go girl!

  7. You always have the best tees. I love that graphic tee and I love wearing amidi skirt or tulle skirt with a graphic tee. They balance themselves out! =)
