Wistful Wednesday 2

{Wistful Wednesday}
~A weekly ritual. A single photo capturing a moment from the week.
A simple, special, extraordinary memory that I want to freeze, savour and remember~

I run on a tight schedule during the week; being a teacher, routine has been imprinted on my soul thanks to that bell and that day planner.  So it is rare that I let my kids even have a minute to chill when there is homework, house chores, piano etc that needs to be done.  Monday was an exception.  They both came home from school feeling sick which I guessed was overheating because of the full blast summer we have been experiencing.  I quickly cancelled the evening plans and decided a jump in the pool to cool them down and an early bedtime was exactly what they needed.
I guess they also needed some chill time.
For 30 minutes they had a picnic, completely instigated by themselves that I got to eavesdrop on.  They told each other about their day, talked about their classes and teachers and were just brother and sister without the rush to be out the door.
I need to focus on being intentionally routine-less this summer to promote more of this precious and valuable sibling time that they created for themselves.

Speaking of intentions, I have all good intentions at the beginning of the week of being super put together and fancy.  In all reality, that never happens and usually I seldom comb my hair, my makeup is half off and I'm in jeans and a t-shirt.  But I'm kinda over being hard on myself because more and more I am coming to realize that I enjoy being simple that way.

When it comes down to it, I enjoy not feeling like I need to be 'on' all the time.  Also...I may or may not have thing for graphic tees and only wore that all week.

  7. I absolutely love unstructured time for my kids. It's been a journey to figure out my own parenting style over the years, but I feel mostly like I am there, or maybe I am here for the moment and it feels okay. I feel good in it (mostly, except when I am yelling). As for the graphic tees, I can't pick a favorite. I love them all!!!!
