Gratitude with TBB

Today on the Blended Blog we're talking about who and what we're grateful for.  You can join us in the link up here.  Truth be told, I was going to bail on this post, but then I gots to thinking about things and remembered I have tons to be grateful for.

My dad's uncle passed away this past week.  He was our beloved Grams brother and the last of the siblings left.  It was so nice to see the extended family at the funeral, most of whom I haven't seen in far too long, I loved reconnecting with them.  But the most beautiful part was hearing that Uncle Ken was considered a great friend to my parents.  Mom and Dad spent a lot of time with him, Uncle Ken didn't have kids so they were kinda his primary care giver.  I guess sometimes its easy to see that situation as just something you have to do because you're a good human being.  But my parents are continually teaching me more about unconditional love for family.  Even with Grams and now Uncle Ken, they did everything for them, caring for them.  Or seeing my Grandpa living with my aunt and uncle.  I dunno, I guess I'm just really grateful that I get to witness that.   That love and care for the elderly.  No one wants to be alone.

So that's it. My gratitude post for today- who & what we're most grateful for.  To me it's the people who model goodness and kindness incessantly and who think of other's needs before their own.

It's also for my family, who gather and celebrate and realize the importance of that precious time together.  We did just that yesterday, gathering on our property to break the trails for cross country skiing, watching the girls play ringette and then joined for a meal after.

It doesn't get much better than that for me.
