Gratitude 2.

by - November 20, 2017

Lately it seems it doesn't take much for me to feel ample amounts of gratitude.  Surround me with my people, good wine and fresh air and I'm at the top of my gratitude game.   Life is good when your heart is grateful.

In french we say 'reconnaissance' when speaking of gratitude which can be directly translated to the action of recognizing.   I think that's where we get so easily caught up with the Joneseseses and forget to take a step back and look at what good we have in our life.   And because we're talking about that on TBB today, I wanted to show you where and when I feel the most gratitude.

The first week we moved into the acreage, I remember thinking that this place is going to be so good for my soul.  The colours seem more vibrant, it's insanely quiet and just so divinely peaceful.  Truth be told, being out in nature has been exactly what I needed.  It's 10 minutes to get into the city, so I find myself double thinking just any trip in, making me more of a homebody...if that's possible.

I love our house out here and all the way it changes for the seasons.  Yes, its cold...but the cold also forces us indoors and makes us appreciate cozy and company.  And cake.  Yup, all the important 'c' words.

But in the same breath, I can't wait to build this new home.  I feel so lucky to have a chunk of land all to myself.  These 60+ acres are bringing my husband so much joy he is practically vibrating with excitement thinking of all the projects he wants to do.  Currently the list entails: bees, chickens, horses, a barn, a complicated garden, an orchard, a dug out and trout pond......I love seeing him so happy.  And while he calls the land 'his' project, the house is mine and I am soooo in love with it and can't wait to get the drawings finalized so I can start dreaming.

In the meantime, we'll enjoy the frozen land and ski, toboggan and snow-shoe all winter until they're ready to break ground in the spring.

Lucia and Willis skiing up our future driveway!  The house will sit just past Lucia.

So when and where do I feel the most grateful? That is easily when I'm surrounded by beauty- be it in my favourite people, or my favourite surroundings.
