Oh, what style.

I had a great chat with my BFF yesterday about remembering why we started blogging in the first place (sharing our stories), which gave me a great idea for my post today (to share my story- or in today's case, Dan's).  Typically I have been talking fashion on Wednesdays (which I love, when I'm feeling fancy), but realistically, I haven't been feeling too fashiony (and more cozy instead). I think it mostly has to do with the fact that I spend my whole day in my winter boots, giant warm jacket or gym clothes (and mostly sweaty because of all the layers or a recent workout).  On top of that, I don't like taking pictures outside (ugh, so many layers to take off) when I can't feel my face (it's cold winter again)...so you can see maybe why I haven't been feeling the fashion thing. (Don't get me wrong, I LOVE looking).

[caption id="attachment_8978" align="aligncenter" width="450"] Realistic Deena fashion taken while talking with Christy.....I'm sweaty and still in my gym clothes. But my hoody is nice![/caption]

I was browsing the mall yesterday for some things for my husband (who has a very....special....fashion sense) and I (accidentally) found this hoodie, a tank top and a sports bra- which is quite possibly the comfiest sports bra I have ever worn (an amazing feat for someone with big girls).  So I do like style, but I spend a lot of time in my gym clothes, so sometimes it's fun to concentrate on that.

Also, I've been getting in a lot of great time with my kids.  Like not feeling rushed, able to enjoy their reading/homework and after school routines time.  I feel so lucky to be able to spend my time with these little monkeys and they are growing up much to quickly.  Take a look at little Lucia.  The girl who didn't grow.  But now who does and is in the 50th percentile.  The little grade one cutie who can fluently speak two languages and read in both as well.  It amazes me everyday how quickly she is picking up on things. But also how grown up she is looking.

Part of the 'she's growing' thing is that she needs new clothes constantly.  Actually- Willis seems to be in the same boat too, so they've both got a little refresher.  This was by far my favourite outfit we picked out at Old Navy for her...she looks like a little Mademoiselle!

And she usually acts like a little Mlle. also: she likes to take charges and doesn't like people telling her she can't do something.  I'll leave you with a cute story Dan wanted to share.

Dan: Lucia - do you want an easy or a hard word to spell?

Lucy: A medium one.

Dan: Ok.  Spell KNIFE

Lucy: N.  I.  F.

Dan: <silence>

Lucy: E

Dan: Close.  That's a tricky one because there's a K in the front

Lucy: Yeah - but you don't say it

Dan: Right.  You don't pronounce it because it's silent

Lucy:

They grow up so quickly don't they?

  3. That little jacket on Lucia is SO sweet. My oldest is growing like a weed too. She always has hardly any clothes and her sister has ALL the clothes by the time the hand me downs come along from cousins and such. I spend a lot of time in gym clothes too and I am okay with that.

  5. Glad I was inspiring :) Lucia looks like a doll in that blazer, did you buy a matching one?

  6. haha! I think I've had that same exact conversation with Baby Fox before, when they were learning that the e on the end of a word makes the vowel sound long, so when we asked him to spell something he would not say the e because it was silent, kids are so funny, and way more logical.

  7. Oh how I miss cozy clothes some days, but then today I'm wearing leggings, a tunic, and converse, so it's basically street legal PJs. Love hearing how kids think!

Sunshine inspired fashion

Today I'm showing you the first outfit I got on my trip to Scotland/England and it just happens to be in one of my favourite colours....yes, yellow.  I also put together some of my fave yellow picks on the interwebs for you in the above link.

I have posted a few of my fave yellow pieces before like the one with the blazer  or the one with the yellow shoes and jacket and then there is also this bag that I got in Vegas last year that always makes me swoon....

Anyway, I'm rambling....today's outfit is a dress, but you'll have to hop over to the Blended Blog to see it. Muahahahahha...here's sneak peak.

A blogger meet up in Toronto

It was like a weekend long blind date...... e-Harmony but for friends..... Possibly one of the craziest things I've done..... But I spent the weekend with 10 other women whom I met online. Well, except for my real life bestie on the far right. We have a group of 14 bloggers who have been collabing since the spring of 2014 and what first was simple blog fun has quickly become a sisterhood.   Last year we met in Vegas, this year we settled for Toronto and had 11 members.
Trip highlights include a bus trip with wine and Niagara Falls, a walking tour of downtown Toronto, plenty of great meals, a shopping adventure and rooftop hot tubs at night.  I could go into the details, but for me, the actual trip to Toronto wasn't why I went...the Jays weren't even playing. What brings me the most joy about this trip is the fact that women from all walks of life, all ages (we had 30, 40 and 50 somethings) with a gamut of different interests took a leap of faith and traveled to meet women…

London 1

Sunday/Monday was a blur.   It went from cruising around Toronto (that means shopping) with the little group of Blended Bloggers that were left over to heading to the airport to meet Dan and the kids then to an overnight flight to Dublin and then another 2ish hour flight to London.  At least the kids slept an hour or two, but I couldn't do it.   Currently in zombie mode.   When we got to our hotel (MalMaison Charterhouse Square) we had to nap. Well I had to anyway before I started losing it.   After an hour long family nap, Dan headed to work and I decided to take the kids out on an adventure in the neighbourhood.  We're only 850 metres from St. Paul's Cathedral and I hadn't visited it last time I was here so it was an easy pick. First I had to devise a plan to keep them engaged and because Pokemon is all they ever want, it was an easy bait.  The deal was that if they came and learned something with me, they got to have some Pokemon time in the area. It worked like a …
