70 ideas for splurge groups

(A)Musings

Here's the thing: I have been in a bit of a slump.  Maybe it's a blogging slump or a creative slump or an energy slump, but regardless I just haven't been feeling myself.   I'm also sick and trying to get caught back up after a crazy fun February and all the while, trying not to be a suck about it.   But I think that's where I've come to a realization and found my focus this Lent.  I need to work on my honesty- with others and myself.  For as long as I can remember I have just kept my feelings inside, out of fear of hurting the other person.  I need to paint a more realistic picture of what my life is like as I'm fearful people think my life is perfect- it's far from it.  How that's going to be reflected in my blogging, I'm not sure- but I know I need to let go more....I hate feeling out of control.  I also really miss my lashes and can't wait to get them back on next week.  Sorry, that was random.  I need to blog more what is in my heart and on my mind and not what I feel I need to put out there to be a "good/real" blogger.  That was just a sampling of the things that have been on my mind this week as I try to figure out the root of my undoings.

Do you ever get peopled out?  I think that may be one of the reasons I'm retreating...just too much going on.  Don't get me wrong, I love every minute I get with my friends and family but sometimes I just want to hide under my covers and cuddle with my kids.  Sometimes I don't want to talk to people and get annoyed by all the voices.  It can be so loud.  But also so cute and so good for the soul to have these people around me that care so much- I do know that.  Look at that little face on our Jamison- he brings so much joy to our lives :)

So regardless if I get down in the dumps and hate on my face and get mad at my body and want to move to a deserted (or maybe desserted) island - I know I have awesome people to lift me up.  Like this past weekend, having Jen, Rob and Mom and Dad around.  Yes, that means people and noise, but also that means memories and ice cream.   I had received a lumberjack-inspired hoodie from RoseGal and was looking forward to wearing it- but it didn't fit.  I had ordered an XL because it's from China and that didn't even fit, even though the pink Jedi hoodie was an XL and was too big. So luckily for me our Jen was more than willing to take it off my hands and be my model, with a buster bar in had because that is how we celebrate Saturday nights.

The thing about my family is that they show up. They genuinely want to spend time with my kids and they make the effort to do so.  They form relationships and they maintain them.  I am blessed to have these loud, energetic and time-consuming people in my world.  And to celebrate that- why not take a look of some of my favourite professional photos from Rob and Jen's wedding this past September.

Have yourself a great weekend, we'll be celebrating my darling sister's 30-somethingth birthday.  That's ice cream for me.

  1. Yay for ice cream, just had to get that out of the way. I think we all get tired of it all. Trying to be everything for everyone. Sometimes you just have to stop and be you. Love you!!! The food and the bad.

Happy birthday to your sissy! Enjoy the time celebrating. You are lucky to have such a loving family but absolutely sometimes we definitely need to hide under those covers especially when you're such a people pleaser like you are my dear and there are days when you just can't be everything to everyone. And nothing wrong with that and now you make me want to have ice cream for lunch, LOL! Have a wonderful weekend full of sweet and restful Moments!

  5. That second one of Will and Jamison. . . .That is one that will be a go to for the rest of their lives. Such a great one! Also glad to see Lawson isn't the only one who likes to just open her mouth as wide as possible to smile.

Not perfect, telling it like it is, honest, Deena is my fav. . . . I like the one that talks about fashion and food and just general stuff. But I connect most with the core of who you are. I look forward to reading more of that.

  9. Beautiful photos!

Everyone needs time to recharge. Even me who doesn't spend time with people besides my family (read: Mike and the kidlets). Also? I love honest, unabashed Deena. Always have.

  14. I felt super stuck after Christmas, and my blog took a serious hit. Finally, I got back to normal in February and had been thriving ever since, but it’s not easy. Blogging is a strange and sometimes lonely profession; I spend a lot of time researching what a “good” blog looks like which makes it's super easy to lose myself and all my quirkiness. I decided 2017 is the year where I’m doing what I want to do. I love crafting, so I’m doing more crafts videos on my blog. I have no idea what opportunities will arise, but I’m looking forward to figuring it out. Blogging is finally fun again. I like you hoodie from RoseGal. It’s totally my style. I love your wedding pics also, B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. :)

  30. Those photos are amazingly beautiful.

Thanks for being real and honest. Sometimes just putting ourselves out there mid slump is what we need to help dig ourselves out a bit. Hugs lady

  31. This is a raw post and I look forward to more. It's interesting that you mentioned the noise and people. I feel like as I get older I become more intervertwd and needing more space alone, especially in nature. Your family seems so kind and I am a little jealous that your kids seem to have such strong connections to aunts and uncles.
