Top 5 of 2016, #1

This is my favourite post of the year, so it makes me happy to see that it was the most viewed of the year.  Cheers!

We have just returned from a most wonderful wedding weekend in out west in Calgary.  If you have been following me on Instagram or SnapChat (shoestoshiraz), I'm sure you've had some sneak peaks into the going-ons of our weekend.  If not, I plan on taking the week to show how we celebrated a new chapter for Jen and Rob.

I felt very emotional all weekend, maybe it was the impact of seeing all our people in one place and just how large our family has grown, maybe it was part of me missing my Grandmas and Grandpa Park, maybe it was the fact that my little brother was getting married or perhaps it was just the way things go when you come from an emotional family.  There were so many people to hug and faces to squeeze and stories to be told.  Naturally, I think of all these things after the fact but luckily I have this space where I can do whatever the hell I want.  And today I want to share a little of what's on my mind.

Brother, I am proud of you.  I love you and I absolutely adore the man you have become.  Not gonna lie, I was kinda worried for a bit in the years prior to Jen when you were all ragey and MMAing and clearly unhappy with where your life was at.  You just always wanted your one true love and it makes my heart so happy to see you bursting with such joy at this stage in your life.  You have grown into such a mature, somewhat responsible, caring and genuine man.  Our children are so lucky to have such a fun-loving sorta hipster for an uncle who wants to be so present in their lives.

Jen, we have loved you from the minute we met you.  There was nothing but pure and genuine love for you from the day you walked into our lives at Lucia's first birthday party.  I feel that maybe Kyla and I should have made vows to you, as I'm sure for you it is difficult coming into a very tight family with 2 sisters who love their brother.  So what would I promise you? Well, I'm sure Kyla would agree with me when I say that we promise to text you more than we text Rob-especially when it involves making plans, invite you on all of our adventures and make you always feel like you are a part of the shenanigans.  You are officially one of us.  Not a sister in law. I don't like that term. You are our sister now and we will treat you like one.  We promise to love you as fiercely as we love our brother.

Rob and Jen did ask me to make the slideshow for the reception and I was more than happy to do it, mostly because I had all summer to concoct something perfect for them.  So I thought I would share it with you today:

The second thing I worked on was a little something for my aunts.  Tradition in our family is that at each wedding, during the reception, the aunts do something. Be it a skit, a song or a poem, but regardless, my mother's beautiful sisters always pay hommage to their niece or nephew.  So when I was out at Aunty Judie's this summer in B.C, we got to talking and she shared her idea of performing the song 'You Can't Hurry Love', because Rob was always looking for his person.  I then proposed that we go 21st century and make a music video, incorporating other members of our family.  She was game and this is what I came up with:

Come back on Wednesday and I'll share some of the wedding fashion.

Sunshine inspired fashion

Today I'm showing you the first outfit I got on my trip to Scotland/England and it just happens to be in one of my favourite colours....yes, yellow.  I also put together some of my fave yellow picks on the interwebs for you in the above link.

I have posted a few of my fave yellow pieces before like the one with the blazer  or the one with the yellow shoes and jacket and then there is also this bag that I got in Vegas last year that always makes me swoon....

Anyway, I'm rambling....today's outfit is a dress, but you'll have to hop over to the Blended Blog to see it. Muahahahahha...here's sneak peak.

A blogger meet up in Toronto

It was like a weekend long blind date...... e-Harmony but for friends..... Possibly one of the craziest things I've done..... But I spent the weekend with 10 other women whom I met online. Well, except for my real life bestie on the far right. We have a group of 14 bloggers who have been collabing since the spring of 2014 and what first was simple blog fun has quickly become a sisterhood.   Last year we met in Vegas, this year we settled for Toronto and had 11 members.
Trip highlights include a bus trip with wine and Niagara Falls, a walking tour of downtown Toronto, plenty of great meals, a shopping adventure and rooftop hot tubs at night.  I could go into the details, but for me, the actual trip to Toronto wasn't why I went...the Jays weren't even playing. What brings me the most joy about this trip is the fact that women from all walks of life, all ages (we had 30, 40 and 50 somethings) with a gamut of different interests took a leap of faith and traveled to meet women…

London 1

Sunday/Monday was a blur.   It went from cruising around Toronto (that means shopping) with the little group of Blended Bloggers that were left over to heading to the airport to meet Dan and the kids then to an overnight flight to Dublin and then another 2ish hour flight to London.  At least the kids slept an hour or two, but I couldn't do it.   Currently in zombie mode.   When we got to our hotel (MalMaison Charterhouse Square) we had to nap. Well I had to anyway before I started losing it.   After an hour long family nap, Dan headed to work and I decided to take the kids out on an adventure in the neighbourhood.  We're only 850 metres from St. Paul's Cathedral and I hadn't visited it last time I was here so it was an easy pick. First I had to devise a plan to keep them engaged and because Pokemon is all they ever want, it was an easy bait.  The deal was that if they came and learned something with me, they got to have some Pokemon time in the area. It worked like a …
