The Going-Ons of the Week

  • While driving to piano yesterday, Lucia asked me how she can get a baby and if it really hurts to have it cut out of your stomach.  I stalled on my response, not knowing if I was ready to go there yet.  Instead I asked why she was thinking about it and she said, well, I want to know if I want to have babies.  Willis told me I can ask for one when I'm 13 and I don't think I want any because it might looks like I need to get myself prepared for the next time this comes up so I have something intelligible to answer with.  I texted Kyla our little conversation and then a couple hours later she replies with:

Addy (her 4 yr old) in bed: mom, how does a baby get in our tummy?  Maybe there is a switch that opens our belly.  Maybe Jesus makes a baby and puts it in our baby.

  • Exciting things happening in blogland!

Mondays on The Blended Blog we have some fun series coming!

Also, we've started a Virtual Book Club that you can participate in from the comfort of your home.  If you're interested in joining up, please fill out the form here and head over to my post on The Blended Blog to see what it's all about.

  • I got dressed this week...which is a feat in itself seeing that our temperature was mostly -40.  But also, this is my last photo I have with no bangs.  I have this thing.  Whenever I go for a hair cut/colour, I do something different and because this time I really like where my colour is at, I decided to do bangs.  So you'll be seeing me sporting some bang looks in the future.

  • I am fortunate to have the chance to co-host on Jennie's blog A Pocket Full of Polkadots, she always has unique ways to style pieces and I've enjoyed getting to know here through her blog.

Fabulous Friday1

Meet your host for Fabulous Friday, Jennie of A Pocketful of Polka Dots. Jennie is a 40+ frugal fashionista who enjoys trying new trends, loves All the shoes, believes life is too short for boring hair, and never met a polka dot she didn't like. You can follow Jennie here ∼

I had a lot of fun trying to narrow down a favourite post in last week's link up and wound up finding a bunch of new blogs to follow.  In the end I picked Arielle from Casual n' Couture because her oversized jacket post was spot on. You can read it here.

Have a great weekend!

  3. i DREAD answering those questions!!! makes me anxious thinking about i!

  4. This is such a great pic of you! Oh the questions!! And why do they always ask in the car?!

  5. Thanks for co-hosting! Love your vest and top!

  6. I just got my bangs cut last week, too! I spent 8 months growing them out - and then decided it was time for a change. We have a couple of runs of negative digit temps - but I can't imagine living through them all winter long.

  7. You're so pretty in that color! Ah, the talk. Which goes on, in varying degrees, for many years. I remember the horrified look on Conner's face when he actually found out what sex was. And when Thomas was 7, he was really mad that only girls could have babies in their tummies.

  8. Awww you're adorable. I love the things kiddos say and ask. Sometimes it totally puts us on the spot and it's like ummmmmm???? Haha! Have a fabulous weekend!

  9. Thank you so much for joining me as co-host of Fabulous Friday this week, Deena! Sometimes you gotta love the things kids say - too funny. Looking forward to seeing your bangs and I think you look super cute here. Those leggings and fur vest are perfect together!

  10. Oh kids indeed!! They can ask the most unexpected of questions!!

    All the Cute

  11. Oh gosh, that question would make me pause for a sec too! Good times :)

  12. That's exactly how I felt....thanks for stopping by!

  13. I still haven't come up with a reasonable response.

  14. lol- I was totally stuck and couldn't run away.

  15. That's exactly what happened to me too...grow out, then's a vicious cycle.

  16. Thanks for stopping by- those pants are my fave

Sunshine inspired fashion

Today I'm showing you the first outfit I got on my trip to Scotland/England and it just happens to be in one of my favourite colours....yes, yellow.  I also put together some of my fave yellow picks on the interwebs for you in the above link.

I have posted a few of my fave yellow pieces before like the one with the blazer  or the one with the yellow shoes and jacket and then there is also this bag that I got in Vegas last year that always makes me swoon....

Anyway, I'm's outfit is a dress, but you'll have to hop over to the Blended Blog to see it.'s sneak peak.

A blogger meet up in Toronto

It was like a weekend long blind date...... e-Harmony but for friends..... Possibly one of the craziest things I've done..... But I spent the weekend with 10 other women whom I met online. Well, except for my real life bestie on the far right. We have a group of 14 bloggers who have been collabing since the spring of 2014 and what first was simple blog fun has quickly become a sisterhood.   Last year we met in Vegas, this year we settled for Toronto and had 11 members.
Trip highlights include a bus trip with wine and Niagara Falls, a walking tour of downtown Toronto, plenty of great meals, a shopping adventure and rooftop hot tubs at night.  I could go into the details, but for me, the actual trip to Toronto wasn't why I went...the Jays weren't even playing. What brings me the most joy about this trip is the fact that women from all walks of life, all ages (we had 30, 40 and 50 somethings) with a gamut of different interests took a leap of faith and traveled to meet women…

London 1

Sunday/Monday was a blur.   It went from cruising around Toronto (that means shopping) with the little group of Blended Bloggers that were left over to heading to the airport to meet Dan and the kids then to an overnight flight to Dublin and then another 2ish hour flight to London.  At least the kids slept an hour or two, but I couldn't do it.   Currently in zombie mode.   When we got to our hotel (MalMaison Charterhouse Square) we had to nap. Well I had to anyway before I started losing it.   After an hour long family nap, Dan headed to work and I decided to take the kids out on an adventure in the neighbourhood.  We're only 850 metres from St. Paul's Cathedral and I hadn't visited it last time I was here so it was an easy pick. First I had to devise a plan to keep them engaged and because Pokemon is all they ever want, it was an easy bait.  The deal was that if they came and learned something with me, they got to have some Pokemon time in the area. It worked like a …
