What I Wore: Teacher Style

This week was a bit better outfit-wise in Teacher Style land, selon moi.  I felt good in everything, except for one.  Funny story.  You see, I have to stay in my pajamas as long as possible in the morning (because comfy) and I always leave putting on my outfit to the last 10 minutes before we leave.  In my defence, I pick out what I think would look good.  But sometimes once I get it on (and in mornings lately, take the picture) I realize I hate it.  So the picture in the top left on that beautiful sunshiney morning is what I intended on wearing.  And then with -2 minutes after we should have left, I decided I hated it because when I put my shoulders back the buttons stretch a bit on the booble area. I had a white tank on underneath, but still. It bugged me.  So I quickly switched out and put on a white tee with a white vest.  Then I hated that so I put my white denim jacket on over the white tee and told myself I would have to live with it.  BUT, but the time I had brought the kids to school, I was hating the entire I went to Walmart, bought a sweater (12$) and a necklace (10$) and voilà, I felt better. I also pulled off some crazy pattern mixing as you can see in the picture in the bottom middle.  So that's my story of usually every morning in my life.

I am happily putting away all these summer pieces and I even brought down the rest of my fall wardrobe this weekend so I am ready for some fun outfits.  I will take a break from my teacher style next week because I definitely will want to show you what I wore to my brother's wedding!

Also- got some fun things in the mail this week from La Maison Simons....poor Christy getting spammed with all my outfit pictures. Well ha, jokes on you have them too.  I only returned one thing in the green box and I can't wait to style these pieces- not all together like in the picture, obviously.

I love that plaid skirt to pieces and all the ways you paired it and of course I always love your teacher style. I put my summer things away and then I had to pull them all back out this week because it's in the mid-80s, what? It's fall now, come on.

  2. That pattern mixing in the collage, LOVE. One day, one day I will have enough patterns to mix :P.

  3. I like your spam pictures! I just printed the return label for my green box. Kept 2 out of 3. Not bad.

  4. I love that you mix patterns. I'm slowly allowing myself to do the same.

  5. I have yet to do the summer/fall change over. Need to get on that. Love that you stopped at Wal Mart for a presto chango!

  6. I love your teacher style! I am ready for fall temps so I can bring out my fall stuff. 90 degree temps is not fall weather.

  7. Haha you are too cute, I miss you. That is so something I would want to do, but I would probably just end up complaining all day. Favorite outfit is upper right.

  8. you're the most stylish (and prettiest) teacher EVER!!
Can't wait to see hwo you style those new additions!

  9. Sometimes we have the same brain. Your routine = my routine. I have been know to go home at lunch and change because I hated what I wore. So many things look good in my head but not on the body.

  10. Some mornings I just cannot get my outfit to work. Doesn't happen as often as it did in years past...maybe I just don't care that much anymore??? But if I don't feel good in what I have on, the day is only going south from there. Really like the lacy white top and all the different ways you wear your hair.

  11. Oh I know how you feel with the last minute outfit changes and then still not feeling comfortable! It' so helpful you can stop by a store and buy something to change your outfit! :) I try to plan my outfit the night before but it doesn't always happen and sometimes I don't have time to change if what I throw on in the morning isn't great. I'm almost always in a bad mood those days, haha!

    Hope you're having a great week :)

  12. You really are the most stylish teacher! Love all of these looks, and can't wait to see what you wear to the wedding!

  13. Love the story behind the pictures! And especially the flippy pictures of your Simons reveal! So fun!

  14. I put away most of my summer pieces away this weekend too :( (except for a few that I can layer and play with for the month of October). I was trying to choose my fav. teacher outfit and I just can't I really like them all. As for your new order, I love that skirt and the green bomer jacket. I can't wait to get paid!!!

  15. I need to put away my summer pieces- I definitely feel like I should, but the KC weather disagrees. It's been in the 90s all this week, haha.

And I do this, too- get dressed, then see a pic/catch a glimpse in the mirror, and realize I don't dig the outfit (for whatever reason). And back to the dressing room I go!

  16. I'm always making last minute changes to my outfits. They never seem to look how I planned. Love your Simons reveal and all of these cute looks!

  17. Story of my life (err mornings). Set out an outfit. Hate it once it is on. Tear through closet to figure out something else to wear. Settle for something meh. I have yet to go shopping in the morning. Mainly because I have no extra time built into my morning as I usually walk into the office at 8 or 8:05 as it is. Also, I want your new plaid skirt. I want to go look at Simons site but know I will want to buy all the things. So I will have willpower. I will. hopefully.

  18. Totally agree! I bet your students can't wait to see what you wear each day.

Today I'm showing you the first outfit I got on my trip to Scotland/England and it just happens to be in one of my favourite colours....yes, yellow.  I also put together some of my fave yellow picks on the interwebs for you in the above link.

I have posted a few of my fave yellow pieces before like the one with the blazer  or the one with the yellow shoes and jacket and then there is also this bag that I got in Vegas last year that always makes me swoon....

Anyway, I'm's outfit is a dress, but you'll have to hop over to the Blended Blog to see it.'s sneak peak.

A blogger meet up in Toronto

It was like a weekend long blind date...... e-Harmony but for friends..... Possibly one of the craziest things I've done..... But I spent the weekend with 10 other women whom I met online. Well, except for my real life bestie on the far right. We have a group of 14 bloggers who have been collabing since the spring of 2014 and what first was simple blog fun has quickly become a sisterhood.   Last year we met in Vegas, this year we settled for Toronto and had 11 members.
Trip highlights include a bus trip with wine and Niagara Falls, a walking tour of downtown Toronto, plenty of great meals, a shopping adventure and rooftop hot tubs at night.  I could go into the details, but for me, the actual trip to Toronto wasn't why I went...the Jays weren't even playing. What brings me the most joy about this trip is the fact that women from all walks of life, all ages (we had 30, 40 and 50 somethings) with a gamut of different interests took a leap of faith and traveled to meet women…

London 1

Sunday/Monday was a blur.   It went from cruising around Toronto (that means shopping) with the little group of Blended Bloggers that were left over to heading to the airport to meet Dan and the kids then to an overnight flight to Dublin and then another 2ish hour flight to London.  At least the kids slept an hour or two, but I couldn't do it.   Currently in zombie mode.   When we got to our hotel (MalMaison Charterhouse Square) we had to nap. Well I had to anyway before I started losing it.   After an hour long family nap, Dan headed to work and I decided to take the kids out on an adventure in the neighbourhood.  We're only 850 metres from St. Paul's Cathedral and I hadn't visited it last time I was here so it was an easy pick. First I had to devise a plan to keep them engaged and because Pokemon is all they ever want, it was an easy bait.  The deal was that if they came and learned something with me, they got to have some Pokemon time in the area. It worked like a …
