July in numbers

It always makes me sad when the first month of summer holidays comes to a close.  Although it does sound long to say I have another month still, I know how much prep August requires and that means it goes by quite quickly.  That being said, I also got tons accomplished in July. You can check out the previous numbers posts here.  Now let's look back at what we got done in July:

1 Oui Day celebrating the end of a great school year.  They requested the usual: Ruckers, lunch and supper out, buy lego and more stuffed animals......

5 Organized Pool Parties with friends- we have been getting great use out of the pool and Lucy has gone from only swimming with the life jacket on to diving for golf balls with Willis.

1 date with cousins, honouring our Grams on her birthday.  Our Grams was such a social butterfly, she would be absolutely thrilled to have almost all the great grandchildren together, celebrating life.

1 dentist appointment, little Lucia has cavities :(- She doesn't seem too concerned about the procedure, but she also the crazy brave one.  Speaking of which....

1 pair of ears pierced.  I have never suggested it, but she wanted it done, despite knowing it would hurt for a little bit.  She is so proud of them and loves showing people.

1 weekend of kids on a trip with Dan's family to the lake- they had the beach at Waskesiu to themselves and of course went for a swim.

1 bridal shower attended for my future sister in law

2300 kms travelled to BC and back

7 days with my bestie..that's a record, I think and it was so wonderful to be close to her again. Our kids also got along swimmingly. Man, I wish we could live closer.

3 birthdays celebrated with 2 new sparkle balls, you can figure out who got them: Aiden, Carmen and Christy

1 family photo session booked with our friends, Jody and Jon and their family:

0 ice cream consumed.  Yup, you read that right.

3 glorious days spent on the beach in my happy place:

5 books read:

First Comes Love, Say When, Nantucket Nights, #GirlBoss, Me Before You.

I would say that either Nantucket Nights or First Comes Love were my favourites out of the 5.

1 gift received in a gift exchange with the girls over on The Blended Blog.  Leslie sent me some awesome stuff from a store I have heard tons about in the States: Charming Charlies and I know her daughter shopped there and always loved her cute things.   I love the colours she picked out for me and that they all coordinate.  Head on over to Alison's blog to see what I sent her.

Click here to see what the other ladies received:

Grumbling Grace | Puppies & Pretties | Living on Cloud Nine | Mishaps & Mayhem of Solitary Life | Two Teens and Their Mama  Once Upon a Time | Nick & Nik | Foxy's Domestic Side | Simply Shaunacey | Whitney à la mode | Shoes to Shiraz

8000 million peas picked, as well as 3 buckets of beets and 2 pails of apples.  I have some baking to do.....

  8. Such a beautiful summer so far! Love the watch Leslie sent you.

  9. I love the 7 days of Christy and Deena. I am going to steal that one for mine that I am just sitting down to write now. Vacation slows everything down!

  11. What a wonderful months you have enjoyed. Love the bounty from your garden. And so jealous of times at the lake. Lucia's earrings are so fancy! Growing up so fast. Glad my package arrived in time. Was a bit worried. I bought myself the cross body, too, she we can be twinsies! They had a huge BOGO event so couldn't refuse. Merry Christmas. XO

  13. Oh my gosh, that is a lot of beans! We planted some pole beans this year, but I think next year we'll plant bush beans, these didn't do as well as we were hoping.

  14. is it wrong that I was reading this post thinking: "next month I'll be in these pics" hahahaha a little presumptuous but whatever lol I cannot even tell you how excited I am to see you friend!!!!!!

  15. I have never heard of pole beans...googling...

  16. So wrong...but I drank wine in its place.

  17. I love the blue- I have nothing in those shades either so that makes it fun to style!!!

  18. I hear you on the time to get it planted- my husband and kids usually do that part and then I do the processing in the summer because I have the time. No excuse for my no ice cream...just picked a glass of red wine instead when the kids would have a treat. I need to up my ice cream game.

Today I'm showing you the first outfit I got on my trip to Scotland/England and it just happens to be in one of my favourite colours....yes, yellow.  I also put together some of my fave yellow picks on the interwebs for you in the above link.

I have posted a few of my fave yellow pieces before like the one with the blazer  or the one with the yellow shoes and jacket and then there is also this bag that I got in Vegas last year that always makes me swoon....

Anyway, I'm's outfit is a dress, but you'll have to hop over to the Blended Blog to see it.'s sneak peak.

A blogger meet up in Toronto

It was like a weekend long blind date...... e-Harmony but for friends..... Possibly one of the craziest things I've done..... But I spent the weekend with 10 other women whom I met online. Well, except for my real life bestie on the far right. We have a group of 14 bloggers who have been collabing since the spring of 2014 and what first was simple blog fun has quickly become a sisterhood.   Last year we met in Vegas, this year we settled for Toronto and had 11 members.
Trip highlights include a bus trip with wine and Niagara Falls, a walking tour of downtown Toronto, plenty of great meals, a shopping adventure and rooftop hot tubs at night.  I could go into the details, but for me, the actual trip to Toronto wasn't why I went...the Jays weren't even playing. What brings me the most joy about this trip is the fact that women from all walks of life, all ages (we had 30, 40 and 50 somethings) with a gamut of different interests took a leap of faith and traveled to meet women…

London 1

Sunday/Monday was a blur.   It went from cruising around Toronto (that means shopping) with the little group of Blended Bloggers that were left over to heading to the airport to meet Dan and the kids then to an overnight flight to Dublin and then another 2ish hour flight to London.  At least the kids slept an hour or two, but I couldn't do it.   Currently in zombie mode.   When we got to our hotel (MalMaison Charterhouse Square) we had to nap. Well I had to anyway before I started losing it.   After an hour long family nap, Dan headed to work and I decided to take the kids out on an adventure in the neighbourhood.  We're only 850 metres from St. Paul's Cathedral and I hadn't visited it last time I was here so it was an easy pick. First I had to devise a plan to keep them engaged and because Pokemon is all they ever want, it was an easy bait.  The deal was that if they came and learned something with me, they got to have some Pokemon time in the area. It worked like a …
