Leggings and a scarf look: Style Perspectives

Quick recap for you of last week's plaid and gingham madness.  Did you have a favourite look?

It's Style Perspectives day and I have a confession.

I don't like scarves.

Jordan, I think you are inheriting all of mine. Except for my two infinity scarves and the one Josh got me in Paris and the wrap Kyla got me in Italy. Okay, maybe I like scarves but only infinity scarves? Point is, is that it's not my signature look and I only wear them when it's chilly in the mornings. Scarves leave me feeling sweaty and awkward (unless I'm certain it's hanging perfectly and in which case it's an infinity scarf)

Leggings, though...that's my jam.  I love a fun pair of leggings with a long tunic, which may very well be my go-to weekend look and more laid back teaching look that I revert to on the days that I don't feel like getting dressed but don't want to look schlubby.

Now Lucy, she can wear a scarf.  My talented friend, Carmen, knit this for her and she was absolutely thrilled.

I have recreated this look for you via the Loft, H&M and Nordstrom's, just in case you want to dress like Deena for a day.

Head over to see how these ladies styled their looks!

  1. I didn't know scarves are on your naughty list but I did know leggings were your jam!

  2. Living on Cloud Nine03 May, 2016 21:36

Love those funky leggings to pieces and Lucy in pink...precious!! You look so cute and fun..and well, you are definitely both!!

  3. I'm the total opposite and can't get enough scarves! Both of these outfits are so cute! Love those printed leggings!

  4. Super cute! I need to get some more tunic length shirts so I can pull of the leggings as pants thing.

  5. Nicole Miller03 May, 2016 23:20

Too bad you don't like them, you look good in them LOL!! Also those teal ballet flats are adorable!

  6. I wear leggings 3-4 times a week. I'm a full supporter of leggings ARE PANTS.

  7. I also prefer an infinity scarf.

  8. Oh I love that tunic you are wearing! Can wear with leggings and has stripes, win!

  9. Okay, I need some fun leggings STAT!!
    How cute is Lucia?!

  10. This is hilarious. I gasped when I read the title. I LOVE me a scarf. Obviously.

I instantly worried that since you weren't liking scarves anymore that maybe they were going out of style. And did I mention? I LOVE me a scarf. You can then imagine the relief I had when I read your joke of giving me all of yours. I know you wouldn't pass on out of style items. Phew.

  11. I love infinity scarves as well...I don't really think I can pull off much else, trend or not hahaha. But I do also love the leggings/tuni combo and you look amazing in both these looks! XO -Kim

  12. I love scarves but I have to find one that works with a larger chest! And tooooootally agree- they can be so sweaty sometimes! Ha!

  13. Haha... I'm like you!! I like fashion theory... but then I buy then, and rarely are they worn, I just don't like something around my neck like that. Scarves for warmth, however, are so much easier when paired with the right coat in the winter... but looks like you've got a good foundation base going for incorporating them into your style! :)

  14. You have the best leggings! And you may not like them, but you look great in scarves. I agree with Jordan - I fear the day scarves go out of style. You and your daughter both look gorgeous this week!

  15. I definitely need more tunics in my life so I can start wearing leggings to work! Especially at this time of the school year. Putting on real clothes is getting increasingly difficult!

  16. Did you coordinate your fun leggings with Christy? Scarves are not my jam either - I feel trapped when wearing them - especially blanket ones. You look great in a leggings and a tunic - I would say that is your signature look.

  17. The thing is I would like to dress like you everyday! Look at those fun leggings, and the scarf that looks completely natural on you. I do prefer to have infinity scarves though because there is no extra material to figure out what to do with. Lucy's scarf is awesome, possibly a knitting project for my mom.

  18. Your fun leggings are so YOU! I love that H&M tunic. Will have to check out.

  19. Fun leggings are my favourite

  20. i didn't really realize it until I started playing around with them for this post

  21. Then it feels like I'm cozy all day, love a good tunic!

  22. Lol...I could wear leggings every day...with a long shirt, to hide my lady bits, of course

  23. should check out some of the floral HUE leggings!

  24. YES! I think that's my problem! They just make me look ever boobier than I am.

  25. Nope, totally in style and completely all yours.

  26. They look really pretty hanging on my wall.....Scarf Art? Is that a thing?

  27. maaaayyyyybe....i agree.. leggings and a tunic is totally me.

  28. A fun pair of leggings + a blousy top is the best outfit- cozy and cute!

Love the patterned leggings very much.x

  30. Katie Mitchell05 May, 2016 09:53

Jealous of your patterned leggings!! I need to get brave and buy a pair!

  31. They have become my favourite go-to!

  32. I'm all about a tunic and leggings when I don't want to get dressed for work. I love scarves but I've found myself not wearing them much at all. Not sure if I am sad about it or just sad about all those scarves hanging in my closet.

Today I'm showing you the first outfit I got on my trip to Scotland/England and it just happens to be in one of my favourite colours....yes, yellow.  I also put together some of my fave yellow picks on the interwebs for you in the above link.

I have posted a few of my fave yellow pieces before like the one with the blazer  or the one with the yellow shoes and jacket and then there is also this bag that I got in Vegas last year that always makes me swoon....

Anyway, I'm's outfit is a dress, but you'll have to hop over to the Blended Blog to see it.'s sneak peak.

A blogger meet up in Toronto

It was like a weekend long blind date...... e-Harmony but for friends..... Possibly one of the craziest things I've done..... But I spent the weekend with 10 other women whom I met online. Well, except for my real life bestie on the far right. We have a group of 14 bloggers who have been collabing since the spring of 2014 and what first was simple blog fun has quickly become a sisterhood.   Last year we met in Vegas, this year we settled for Toronto and had 11 members.
Trip highlights include a bus trip with wine and Niagara Falls, a walking tour of downtown Toronto, plenty of great meals, a shopping adventure and rooftop hot tubs at night.  I could go into the details, but for me, the actual trip to Toronto wasn't why I went...the Jays weren't even playing. What brings me the most joy about this trip is the fact that women from all walks of life, all ages (we had 30, 40 and 50 somethings) with a gamut of different interests took a leap of faith and traveled to meet women…

London 1

Sunday/Monday was a blur.   It went from cruising around Toronto (that means shopping) with the little group of Blended Bloggers that were left over to heading to the airport to meet Dan and the kids then to an overnight flight to Dublin and then another 2ish hour flight to London.  At least the kids slept an hour or two, but I couldn't do it.   Currently in zombie mode.   When we got to our hotel (MalMaison Charterhouse Square) we had to nap. Well I had to anyway before I started losing it.   After an hour long family nap, Dan headed to work and I decided to take the kids out on an adventure in the neighbourhood.  We're only 850 metres from St. Paul's Cathedral and I hadn't visited it last time I was here so it was an easy pick. First I had to devise a plan to keep them engaged and because Pokemon is all they ever want, it was an easy bait.  The deal was that if they came and learned something with me, they got to have some Pokemon time in the area. It worked like a …
