On Trend Tuesdays: the shoulders

On the Blended Blog last week, I talked about 4 trends I will be trying this spring.  You can read the posts here.  Last week I talked florals.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]here are two shoulder trends that I am wanting to try this season: the off the shoulder and the cut out shoulder.  Luckily, I found a beautiful flowy button up top that had cut out shoulders at Winners for only 30$.  Yes, I put my dollar signs at the end, I'm french.  I don't know about you, but I'm not usually willing to fork out a lot of money for something that I don't think will stick around.  I have this top packed in my bags for the Vegas trip this weekend.  This is how I am wearing it (but now how I'll be styling it for Vegas)

Black jeans, black top and a subtle cutout on the shoulder.  Now to be more ball-sy, you could get something like this insanely awesome top that Shaunacey picked up this past weekend at Bootlegger.  I know also want this top. It is a good mix between the shoulder cut out and off the shoulder and is super cute.  I really hope she packs this for Vegas so I CAN SEE IT IN REAL LIFE. High fives for meeting blogging friends in real life!

As for a good off the shoulder top, I have seen it styled many ways and I am going to reference my stylespiritanimal Lipgloss and Lace.  Again, she styled the off the shoulder top perfectly that she forced my hand on the top I was humming and haa-ing over on zulily.  This is what is coming my way:

So, what's the verdict? Will you be trying something cool on your shoulders this summer or spring??

I just ordered my first off the shoulder top and I can't wait. I have a cold shoulder top, but its a sweater and I can't wear it till next winter (hope its still in trend then!). Love that black top on you!

  2. Loving this trend- so flirty and great for spring + summer!

  3. I really want to try these too! Im a little bit concerned with the bra situation in the off the shoulder one, so Im curious about those with a racer top underneath...

  4. Personally I'm not sure how I feel about shoulder cutouts but I am really falling for the off the shoulder tops. My budget is pretty tight this quarter, though (I have a few costly things on my wishlist), so I'm not sure I'll have room for a spring/summer trendy piece :(

  5. Looking fantastic!!! That trend is back again? Was so big in the early 90s. Haha.

  6. I really want to try an off the shoulder top. There are so many cute ones out and I would love to take advantage of not getting weird tank top lines! Love the top you picked out, too. The style and color make it really versatile!

  7. Very cute! I think the cut out shoulders look great on you!

  8. I dunno.... this looks throws me back a bit to my child hood and a floral pink shirt that I loved. I would have to see something on myself before I made a verdict for myself.

  9. I LOVE your cutout top... can't wait to see it in real life :)

  10. hahah me and my post-shopping no shoes crappy pic in the bedroom lol. And yes, it's in my bag!!

  11. Cute. I'm obsessed with both of these. I tried on a few off the shoulders ones in PA Winners and they were NOT winners. Bah. Have so much fun!!!!!

  12. I'm the thinking I may try a strapless...I guess we'll see!

  13. Can't wait to see what you get!

  14. I love the 90s. MOstly the music. And the overalls.

  15. I am actually quite tempted to cut one of my old sweatshirts and make it off the shoulder....

  16. I am going to wear the cut-out top in Vegas...I will likely get those weird tan lines :)

  17. But did you go to Welcome INNNNNNNNN and get a snowdrift?

  18. The cold shoulder tee looks amazing!!! Such a fun trend this season!

  19. All of you are gorgeous, and I love these tops. I'm on the fence because I don't own a good strapless bra. And I hate spending money on bras I can only wear with one or two things. Hmm...

Today I'm showing you the first outfit I got on my trip to Scotland/England and it just happens to be in one of my favourite colours....yes, yellow.  I also put together some of my fave yellow picks on the interwebs for you in the above link.

I have posted a few of my fave yellow pieces before like the one with the blazer  or the one with the yellow shoes and jacket and then there is also this bag that I got in Vegas last year that always makes me swoon....

Anyway, I'm's outfit is a dress, but you'll have to hop over to the Blended Blog to see it.'s sneak peak.

A blogger meet up in Toronto

It was like a weekend long blind date...... e-Harmony but for friends..... Possibly one of the craziest things I've done..... But I spent the weekend with 10 other women whom I met online. Well, except for my real life bestie on the far right. We have a group of 14 bloggers who have been collabing since the spring of 2014 and what first was simple blog fun has quickly become a sisterhood.   Last year we met in Vegas, this year we settled for Toronto and had 11 members.
Trip highlights include a bus trip with wine and Niagara Falls, a walking tour of downtown Toronto, plenty of great meals, a shopping adventure and rooftop hot tubs at night.  I could go into the details, but for me, the actual trip to Toronto wasn't why I went...the Jays weren't even playing. What brings me the most joy about this trip is the fact that women from all walks of life, all ages (we had 30, 40 and 50 somethings) with a gamut of different interests took a leap of faith and traveled to meet women…

London 1

Sunday/Monday was a blur.   It went from cruising around Toronto (that means shopping) with the little group of Blended Bloggers that were left over to heading to the airport to meet Dan and the kids then to an overnight flight to Dublin and then another 2ish hour flight to London.  At least the kids slept an hour or two, but I couldn't do it.   Currently in zombie mode.   When we got to our hotel (MalMaison Charterhouse Square) we had to nap. Well I had to anyway before I started losing it.   After an hour long family nap, Dan headed to work and I decided to take the kids out on an adventure in the neighbourhood.  We're only 850 metres from St. Paul's Cathedral and I hadn't visited it last time I was here so it was an easy pick. First I had to devise a plan to keep them engaged and because Pokemon is all they ever want, it was an easy bait.  The deal was that if they came and learned something with me, they got to have some Pokemon time in the area. It worked like a …
