Style Perspectives: The Wrap

Welcome to Shoes to Shiraz and the debut of the Style Perspectives challenge!

I decided to deviate from the wrap and focus more on cardigans or sweaters that I could wear as a jacket as the weather (hopefully) starts to get nicer in Saskatchewan.  So it was a no-brainer to pick this awesome cardi/jacket that Christy (you can read her post on this same sweater/jacket/cardi here) picked up last year at Nordstrom and that I immediately had to have, so much so that she went out and bought it and then sent it home with my brother for Christmas.  And I likely immediately texted her a ridiculous picture thanking her.  Yup, there it is.  That's what best friends are for.

My favourite part of this sweater : the fun fur detail and the jacquard print.  I have to wear my hair up with this one otherwise all the hair gets all crazy around my shoulders.
My least favourite but also slightly favourite part: the fact that it can double as a jacket.  But I have to be mindful wearing it in the classroom...it makes me get sweaty and well, that isn't always the most attractive feature in a teacher.

I styled the jacket to go with jeans for a dress down day at work.  We get 2ish a month and man, are they coveted.  Why is it so exciting to wear jeans to work? I think I would likely be ever MORE excited if we could wear lulus.  I suppose Jeans for Jesus has a better ring than Lulus for Jesus.
Actually, this would be a very comfy outfit: cozy sweater, jeans, Toms wedges and a pretty bag.

I actually wore this to work yesterday and it was perfect because it was only -6 and felt like spring so I didn't have to wear my big parka over it.  I paired it with navy blue suede leggings and my brown boots.

I love wearing oversized sweaters and ponchos, here are a few of my favourites from the past couple years.  But my new obsession?? The cape.

Here are some of my favourite cape options (and yes, I may have deviated from outerwear with a couple really pretty dress options).  I have a couple of these on my wishlist.

  6. Love that fur on the cardigan, If I saw this on the rack I would immediately think, Deena would love this! And I was thinking of making a cape. I had made a long one with a hood about 10 years ago, which I have worn, once...and have a ton of left over wool...hmm....

  7. I love that oversized cardigan today and I must say you own some amazing wraps and poncho sweaters. Great theme for this first one since it is still Winter. Plus I got blanket scarves and coats on all week long so I will be able to join in a few times. =)

So glad I stopped by, today. Also, starting tomorrow I am hosting my own linkup called "Thursday Moda" so welcome by and link up. Thanks so much, Ada. =)

  8. I ADORE that cardigan. For reals. I kind of dislike that you make shopping suggestions because, well, I always like them.... that's problematic. Mostly for my credit card.

  26. I smiled when I opened your blog and saw your picture. Somehow I felt a real connect to you in this picture. It is almost as if it is animated, and I watched you strike this welcoming, friendly pose. And that Christy is a pretty darn good BFF to run out a get you this sweater after you fell in love with hers. My BFF would do something like that, too. We are blessed.

Today I'm showing you the first outfit I got on my trip to Scotland/England and it just happens to be in one of my favourite colours....yes, yellow.  I also put together some of my fave yellow picks on the interwebs for you in the above link.

I have posted a few of my fave yellow pieces before like the one with the blazer  or the one with the yellow shoes and jacket and then there is also this bag that I got in Vegas last year that always makes me swoon....

Anyway, I'm rambling....today's outfit is a dress, but you'll have to hop over to the Blended Blog to see it. Muahahahahha...here's sneak peak.

A blogger meet up in Toronto

It was like a weekend long blind date...... e-Harmony but for friends..... Possibly one of the craziest things I've done..... But I spent the weekend with 10 other women whom I met online. Well, except for my real life bestie on the far right. We have a group of 14 bloggers who have been collabing since the spring of 2014 and what first was simple blog fun has quickly become a sisterhood.   Last year we met in Vegas, this year we settled for Toronto and had 11 members.
Trip highlights include a bus trip with wine and Niagara Falls, a walking tour of downtown Toronto, plenty of great meals, a shopping adventure and rooftop hot tubs at night.  I could go into the details, but for me, the actual trip to Toronto wasn't why I went...the Jays weren't even playing. What brings me the most joy about this trip is the fact that women from all walks of life, all ages (we had 30, 40 and 50 somethings) with a gamut of different interests took a leap of faith and traveled to meet women…

London 1

Sunday/Monday was a blur.   It went from cruising around Toronto (that means shopping) with the little group of Blended Bloggers that were left over to heading to the airport to meet Dan and the kids then to an overnight flight to Dublin and then another 2ish hour flight to London.  At least the kids slept an hour or two, but I couldn't do it.   Currently in zombie mode.   When we got to our hotel (MalMaison Charterhouse Square) we had to nap. Well I had to anyway before I started losing it.   After an hour long family nap, Dan headed to work and I decided to take the kids out on an adventure in the neighbourhood.  We're only 850 metres from St. Paul's Cathedral and I hadn't visited it last time I was here so it was an easy pick. First I had to devise a plan to keep them engaged and because Pokemon is all they ever want, it was an easy bait.  The deal was that if they came and learned something with me, they got to have some Pokemon time in the area. It worked like a …
