Style Perspectives: in white

[dropcap]I[/dropcap] loved seeing all the great shades of pink looks last week and especially the awesome people taking part on Instagram #theblendedblogstyle.  I'm going to feature some of my favourite Instagram looks next week, me thinks.

So, this week, the white pant, hey? My white pants are hidden high in the confines of my closet because snow, mud, white pants and Saskatchewan isn't a combo one would normally put together.  But in the spirit of awesome and because spring is knocking at our door, I decided to take them out and put them back into the rotation.  Why not.  I really like the some of the white looks I've seen with whites paired with creams and have seen some really beautiful looks put together by bloggers (see All the Cute here and Doused in Pink's here) Also- they are both Chicago based bloggers...interesting.   I then decided that my white look would be an homage to the coming of spring.  And also the Blue Jays, because I can. And I did try to take some pictures outdoors but failed miserably.  Let me explain.....

[caption id="attachment_6670" align="aligncenter" width="683"]IMG_1542 What my outfit looks like when I'm walking around outside. Partly camouflaged with our melting background[/caption]

[caption id="attachment_6671" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]How the outfit looked in my classroom..except I couldn't take pictures in my on a bench in the snow? Makes sense to me. I just wasn't happy with those pictures.  Mostly because it was one of those days where EVERYTHING is going wrong and there was a creepy guy with a hugeass camera in camouflage taking pictures of birds, and he was creeping me out, so I had to give up my photoshoot and get other errands done instead.  When I got home, I felt inspired, having just changed some of our house décor to look more springy. So I staged a spring photo shoot in our great room and had a blast doing it.  A little bit about my outfit inspiration first.  I was watching my current fave show, Jane the Virgin and loved this outfit that Petra sported.  Actually, come to think of it, I love the grey and white that Jane is wearing too.  Some other the meantime, I attempted to create Petra's blue and white (as a side note, we refer to this colour as Christy Blue because of what Christy always wears)

You are such a doll!! LOVE the royal blue and wrap and can we talk cute flats!!! The pic in front of the fire place looks like it should be on the cover of a home and fashion darling!

  2. You make me laugh. I love your first round of photos, but the ones with the Christy Blue shirts are my faves. Also your hair is on point (or is it fleek that the kids are saying these days?) #imold

  3. Katie Mitchell16 March, 2016 00:28

Love Jane the Virgin too! you look great in white pants!! Love these looks...and your picture game many great poses!! Beautiful!

  4. Katie Mitchell16 March, 2016 00:29

Also I want that plaid coat!! LOL

  5. you look fantastic in white pants!! and with the cobalt, BEAUTIFUL!! Also, let's discuss those floral flats?! I need them in my life.

    Simply Shaunacey

  6. Love the white pants on you, and that blue shirt, so pretty! You have the best jackets/coats/sweaters. I've been looking for some floral flats but was on the fence with them, but I think you just pushed me over the fence and I'm fully on board :)

  7. I need to take photography lessons from you. I love everything about this outfit - you are gorgeous in Christy blue & white pants. Also, I want your plaid jacket. And now I've added floral flats to the Vegas shopping list.

  8. Your photos look great! And I am loving the blue and white on you :)

  9. Loving the varied looks here with the white pants! It's definitely tough to wear white in the slushy winters of Chicago! Hopefully, though, spring keeps pulling through. The weather is supposed cool down for a week or so... and that makes me sad, because I've been loving the 60 degree days...but maybe we'll get lots of 60s and 70s into April!!

Thanks for mentioning me! I'm so glad you loved my look! Prior to that Chic Neutrals post, I haven't worn white denim jeans in foreverrrr (like maybe 10 years?) and I started loving them again in late summer of last year... so I bought the pair over the winter and cannot wait to wear them with some other styling ideas!

  10. Deena - you look great in both looks! Your first picture has such a softness to it - and I can't believe you didn't have the top clicks last week because that shades of pink picture (and outfit) was awesome!

    Daily Style Finds

  11. Absolutely love the first one! Mukluks are the best! I also want some of those flowered flats. So fun!

  12. Those printed flats are SO cute! I have white shorts and white capris... now I totally want full length pants too.

  13. I love both your outfits and your outdoor shots. Boo to the creepy bird guy.

  14. Oh shoes, how I love thee....

  15. I'm surprised you don't have one!

  16. I like to pretend I know what I'm doing...

  17. Totes on fleek. I had my grade 12s explain it to me. Funny you say that, I didn't like my hair in that shoot.

  18. Thanks and I'm super duper very much happy to see you participating!

  19. We can strike up some poses in 4 weeks!

  20. Also, just like Shaunacey. Vegas here we come.

  21. SOOOO, I had to google what 60 F was...very nice! We had a couple days like that last week which made me think I could do the white look. And now we're blanketed in snow. Sigh.

  22. I think people are scared of cold. Like how I wore white pants and then it snowed everywhere, I totally get it, I usually only click on sunshiney pictures too :)

  23. he even had a towel over his head. Soooo creepy.

  24. One can never have enough white...or printed flats..or shoes for that matter. I need to re-add your blog to my feedly feed, it disappeared after your switch over :(

  25. My favourite thing about you and Mukluks is how you baby yours :) WOMAN, where are your fashion posts. Patterns and neutrals next week, you can totally do this.

  26. Yeah I was wondering how many people that affected. I read all of my blogs on Bloglovin so that doesn't really affect me unless someone doesn't have Bloglovin... and I have yet to meet a blogger who doesn't.

I need some flats in a bad way. Hopefully I'll find something cute soon.

  27. LOVE! You have inspired me too. I have a top in this shade of blue which now makes me want to wear it with my white jeans and fun shoes. I need some fun shoes!

  28. Me loves some Christy Blue, so of course I love the last outfit. Although you look kind of creepy staring in the flower vase. Did you spend too much time with the bird guy during the photo shoot?

  29. Do it Jordan, do it! Deena is bossy so you better listen.

  30. I haaaate it when they are other people around during a shoot- which is problematic, since I shoot on my front porch and my neighborhood always has a dog-walker/runner/family on bikes passing by!

  31. Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom17 March, 2016 00:50

Your home is SO gorgeous and I love that blue top! I hate when other people are around during my photo shoots! It cramps my style! lol!

  32. Um wow! Love your living room and your outfit! Super jealous of those amazing windows and sunlight! Cobalt and white were made to be paired together!

  33. You wear cobalt so well! I only have one top in a cobaltish shade. Will have to try this look! (Your hair is getting so long! Sarah's going to be able to do so much with it!)

  34. Can I just say how jealous of all the natural light in your house? And the camera toting bird watcher sounds way creepy. Doesn't he know only one camera toting person is allowed in an area? :)

  35. These are lovely outfits. I love dressing up or down my white pants when I can too.

Thank you for linking up to "Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me"

  36. You have styled white pants so nicely. That olive plaid coat is cute and retro - love it. And I love the chevron kimono cardigan. Well done!

Happy St. Patrick's weekend and thank you for linking up with me! Ada. =)

  37. Let's go on the hunt for them in Vegas!

  38. YES! I get so insecure all of a sudden, until I convince myself that I just look like a photog, setting up a location and checking the lighting.

  39. Ha- I was looking at my cell phone because I was actually taking the pictures from it. Love technology!

  40. Thanks- it's nice to have daylight again for indoor pictures. And yes to nobody around. I can't even have the kids in the same room.

  41. I will definitely be putting Sarah to work! Coming with bobbypins!

  42. I need to start taking pictures more indoors and optimizing on the daylight. The windows are my favourite thing in our house! Thanks for stopping by!

  43. I take the windows for granted..with all the dark over winter it is so nice to have light again!

  44. The cobalt and white look amazing together! I really like the addition of your chevron poncho, too.

Thanks for linking up with Fabulous Friday! Hope to see you back next week.

Today I'm showing you the first outfit I got on my trip to Scotland/England and it just happens to be in one of my favourite colours....yes, yellow.  I also put together some of my fave yellow picks on the interwebs for you in the above link.

I have posted a few of my fave yellow pieces before like the one with the blazer  or the one with the yellow shoes and jacket and then there is also this bag that I got in Vegas last year that always makes me swoon....

Anyway, I'm's outfit is a dress, but you'll have to hop over to the Blended Blog to see it.'s sneak peak.

A blogger meet up in Toronto

It was like a weekend long blind date...... e-Harmony but for friends..... Possibly one of the craziest things I've done..... But I spent the weekend with 10 other women whom I met online. Well, except for my real life bestie on the far right. We have a group of 14 bloggers who have been collabing since the spring of 2014 and what first was simple blog fun has quickly become a sisterhood.   Last year we met in Vegas, this year we settled for Toronto and had 11 members.
Trip highlights include a bus trip with wine and Niagara Falls, a walking tour of downtown Toronto, plenty of great meals, a shopping adventure and rooftop hot tubs at night.  I could go into the details, but for me, the actual trip to Toronto wasn't why I went...the Jays weren't even playing. What brings me the most joy about this trip is the fact that women from all walks of life, all ages (we had 30, 40 and 50 somethings) with a gamut of different interests took a leap of faith and traveled to meet women…

London 1

Sunday/Monday was a blur.   It went from cruising around Toronto (that means shopping) with the little group of Blended Bloggers that were left over to heading to the airport to meet Dan and the kids then to an overnight flight to Dublin and then another 2ish hour flight to London.  At least the kids slept an hour or two, but I couldn't do it.   Currently in zombie mode.   When we got to our hotel (MalMaison Charterhouse Square) we had to nap. Well I had to anyway before I started losing it.   After an hour long family nap, Dan headed to work and I decided to take the kids out on an adventure in the neighbourhood.  We're only 850 metres from St. Paul's Cathedral and I hadn't visited it last time I was here so it was an easy pick. First I had to devise a plan to keep them engaged and because Pokemon is all they ever want, it was an easy bait.  The deal was that if they came and learned something with me, they got to have some Pokemon time in the area. It worked like a …
