Love and Hate

This week, I was tagged by the lovely Kelly @ Familiar Joy, for a fun little love // hate // tag game. Here’s the rules:  the person “tagged” must share 10 things they love, 10 things they hate, and then nominate up to 10 other bloggers to do the same! It’s a great way to get to know others!

So here we go!

1.  clean house:  this especially applies when I go away somewhere.  I love coming home to a clean I'm talking sparkling, floors have just been washed clean.

2.  sunsets and chirping birds: I feel like I may have been Cinderella in another floors, singing with the birds and all that jazz...obsession with shoes.

3.  having nothing to do :  I don't do bored well and I don't really sit still, not to the extent of my sister, but I'm a busy body.  But as much as I love being on the go, I equally love and maybe love even more, just chilling and having nothing on the agenda.

4.  getting the mail:  (and having mail...unless it's bills).  Our mail is delivered to a bunch of mail boxes on the way out of the city.  I have to stop every day, just in case something magical is there.

5.  doing my nightly beauty routine:   I love washing the day off my face and doing masks or exfoliating.  I feel accomplished and then my skin feels wonderful before bed.

6.  giving my friends my stuff:  I love when it's seasonal wardrobe clean out and my friends come over and steal things.  It also makes me really happy when they want to shop my closet for special events.

7.  morning hugs and nighttime snuggles:  I think this may be the one thing I will yearn for the most when my kids are old and too cool.  I love when they wake up in the morning, all groggy and scruffled and they give me big, warm hugs.  Equally awesome is the nighttime snuggles when we put them to bed.

8.  me time:  I am a selfish mom that recognizes the importance of having time for herself and takes that time guiltlessly.  I know that I am at my best if I've given myself some time to just be with me.  Some of my favourite activities to do with myself are:  mall walk, coffee sip, book reading on my blanket (which stays in the truck with me for those occasions) at a random park, blogging, going out for lunch with myself or exercising.  If I have a free hour or two, you can guarantee I will be doing one of those things.

9.  back rubs: Dan does this the best, although the kids will valiantly try.  Usually at night when we're laying in bed reading, I'll put my head on his chest so he can rub or scratch my back.  This also means I'm asleep in seconds.

10.  lists:  I'm organized and thrive on routine.  I can't wait to switch into summer mode which means a new style of routine and different looking check lists.

1.  lazy spellcheckers:  Obviously spelling errors are going to squeak by.  But multiple and ridiculous spelling errors hurt my eyes and is equivalent to finger nails on chalkboard to me.  Especially by businesses.

2.  People who think they are more important than they are:  you know the revolves around them....typical douchebaggery and such.

3.  chipped nail polish:  I need to either redo my nails or take it all off...otherwise I end up chipping it all off myself and making a huge mess.

4.  being late:  I would rather be early for being early than be late.  I thank my Dad for that.

5.  bad service:  If you are being paid to do a job, then why not do it?  I especially dislike having to tip when a server has been rude.

6.  one-sided relationships:   I am a giving person and I have a lot of circles of friendships that I maintain.  I feel like I have a good radar of the type of people I want to be around.  I don't, however, enjoy people who are just in it for themselves.  You know the type that don't even bother asking about you or your life and just want what they want.  Relationships take both people to make it work.

7.  not feeling rested: I need at least 8 hours of sleep to be on my best game during the day.  Lately I have been going to bed at 11:30 and waking up at 6:30ish.  7 hours has been working, but by Friday I'm feeling it.  Dan and I take turns having sleep ins on the weekends, which I'll usually sleep from 11:00-9:00 and get caught back up.

8.  being rushed:  I have to have everything for the morning laid out the night before so that I'm not running around with a madwoman.

9.  missing things:  I can probably count on my hands the number of get togethers with my friends I have missed.  I hate not being around when they are, it drives me crazy.  I just love my friends that much......or I'm that fearful of what they say when I'm not there. Bahaha.

10.  not being in control: maybe running a classroom has worn off on me.  I work well when I'm in control of things:  I take control of projects, I usually drive when there's a group of us, I organize most of the get togethers.....I do manage to delegate, but I love being the master puppeteer.

Well, that was fun!  Hopefully you still like me after reading all that.

Sunshine inspired fashion

Today I'm showing you the first outfit I got on my trip to Scotland/England and it just happens to be in one of my favourite colours....yes, yellow.  I also put together some of my fave yellow picks on the interwebs for you in the above link.

I have posted a few of my fave yellow pieces before like the one with the blazer  or the one with the yellow shoes and jacket and then there is also this bag that I got in Vegas last year that always makes me swoon....

Anyway, I'm's outfit is a dress, but you'll have to hop over to the Blended Blog to see it.'s sneak peak.

A blogger meet up in Toronto

It was like a weekend long blind date...... e-Harmony but for friends..... Possibly one of the craziest things I've done..... But I spent the weekend with 10 other women whom I met online. Well, except for my real life bestie on the far right. We have a group of 14 bloggers who have been collabing since the spring of 2014 and what first was simple blog fun has quickly become a sisterhood.   Last year we met in Vegas, this year we settled for Toronto and had 11 members.
Trip highlights include a bus trip with wine and Niagara Falls, a walking tour of downtown Toronto, plenty of great meals, a shopping adventure and rooftop hot tubs at night.  I could go into the details, but for me, the actual trip to Toronto wasn't why I went...the Jays weren't even playing. What brings me the most joy about this trip is the fact that women from all walks of life, all ages (we had 30, 40 and 50 somethings) with a gamut of different interests took a leap of faith and traveled to meet women…

London 1

Sunday/Monday was a blur.   It went from cruising around Toronto (that means shopping) with the little group of Blended Bloggers that were left over to heading to the airport to meet Dan and the kids then to an overnight flight to Dublin and then another 2ish hour flight to London.  At least the kids slept an hour or two, but I couldn't do it.   Currently in zombie mode.   When we got to our hotel (MalMaison Charterhouse Square) we had to nap. Well I had to anyway before I started losing it.   After an hour long family nap, Dan headed to work and I decided to take the kids out on an adventure in the neighbourhood.  We're only 850 metres from St. Paul's Cathedral and I hadn't visited it last time I was here so it was an easy pick. First I had to devise a plan to keep them engaged and because Pokemon is all they ever want, it was an easy bait.  The deal was that if they came and learned something with me, they got to have some Pokemon time in the area. It worked like a …
