Today we're talking our fave Holiday Meal....which for me translates into a couple of things, but the overly factor is that, in order for it to be deemed my favourite, it must involve family.
Anytime I think of Christmas or any big family gathering, I can taste the meals that my Grandmothers so diligently prepared. Every Christmas I try to re-create one of those recipes so I can bring back the tastes to match the wonderful memories that they instilled.
One of my current projects is scanning/recreating this cookbook that belonged to my late Grandma Diehl. It's full of her penmanship and smudges and stains and will be, I'm sure, a prized possession in the kitchens of the big family she loved so much.
Here are a couple pictures of some of my favourite Grandma Diehl Christmas recipes.
My Grandma Park also made us all a binder one Christmas that has all her favourite recipes. Here are a couple things that she always makes for Christmas, that I must make this year!
The marshmallow balls are the ultimate treat for me and I'm pretty sure my Dad has ate them all, so I'm going to have to make a double batch!
Tonight is Dan's Cmas party....I like having a new dress/outfit for this party as it's the only time that I really get dressed up.
Here are some past looks (I thought I had more...I guess I don't) :![]() |

I love the hand written recipes you have from your grandmothers. My mom has my Grandma Mary's cookbook, which I know she never uses - I'm going to ask her to bring it to me when she visits this Christmas. I'm sure there's some good stuff in there. Have fun at the holiday party - love your pictures! Can't wait to see which dress you picked :)!
ReplyDeleteMy Grandma's cookbook is one of my most treasured possessions!
DeleteI keep all my holiday recipes in one binder...with my shopping list so I don't have to recreate it every year. I also love the hand written recipes you shared. I have several that are barely legible anymore, and they are some of my most cherished possessions in the world! Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to see what dress you wore to your Christmas party.

DeleteI love the handwritten recipes, too! How special to have. Can't wait to see what dress you picked.
