What's up Wednesday

and that is exactly what I needed.

This weekend I thought about my Friday post.   I also did some reading about triumphs and about living life through tragedies and trauma and all the crap that gets in the way.
In the end, what I've decided is most true, is that we all have baggage and stuff that we experience, something is bound to happen in our lives that rocks us to the core.
So what really matters is finding the love in it and holding close to those relationships that make a difference.
I'm pretty sure that anybody who has been through anything can definitely name somebody that made a difference during their rotten times.  It made me think of a story that was in a novel our grade 9 class studied this semester:

The Starfish Story
Original Story by: Loren Eisley

One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed
a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.
Approaching the boy, he asked, "What are you doing?"
The youth replied, "Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out.  If I don't throw them back, they'll die."

"Son, the man said, don't you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish?  You can't make a difference!"
After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish,
and threw it back into the surf.  Then, smiling at the
man, he said
"I made a difference for that one."

So I did just that.  I seeked out things/people/activities that made a difference in my life and it surely was easy to come by.  Some quality family time at home and then some girlie time with the besties, doing what we do best: dinner, popcorn and a movie.  We even were able to Facetime with our faraway bestie in Calgary.
And it was good and exactly what I needed.
I am feeling so much better about things and am really looking forward to some other moments with great friends: lunches, house parties and skating dates, coming up in the next couple weeks, some celebrations this weekend with my parents and then a roadtrip to Calgary to see Christy and a Park family trip to Edmonton.
Good times ahead, folks.
Happy Monday.
