Fall Home Tour

Mommy Diaries: Alynne

The Alynne I met in high school and the Alynne I know now are so different.   Who'd have thought that the crazy party chick that I knew would eventually love to make crafts and cozy up in pajamas, watching Love Actually repeatedly.   I LOVE Alynne and absolutely adore the woman she has become.  I can't wait to meet number 2 in May!

Karter

Things your kids do to make you smile (action, something they say...)
His new line is “missed you so much mommy”.  This even works at 6 am on Saturday morning when he comes marching into our bedroom.
His hugs, he must have learnt this from Mark because he gives the best hugs ever.
I love it when he uses his manners.

Favourite vacation place with family (can be near or far, realistic or dreamlike, as specific as you want)
Candle Lake – Marks family owns a cabin up there.

How you would spend a rainy day at home (with your kids).
We would read books and make cookies.  K loves sports, so one minute we would be playing hockey, the next football, etc.  I am sure we would throw in a craft – maybe a painting.  Right now we are fighting monsters and robots on a daily basis so I am sure there would be some bad guy ass kicking throughout the day.  The last thing we would do to wind down our rainy day is build a fort and turn on our starry turtle and look at all the constellations.

What you do to survive the long winters.
This year we will be spending more time outdoors walking the dog, sledding, and teaching Karter how to skate.  I guess just trying to embrace the cold outdoors.  And if that doesn’t work, I think we will be making yearly winter trips to Phoenix to visit my Dad.

What kind of traditions are you creating for Christmas.
One tradition that is very important to Mark is real Christmas trees.  I love this too – and in a couple years I want to start cutting down our own tree.  I did this growing up and loved it.  Another tradition is driving through the Enchanted Forest – So pretty!  This year we are going to get into Christmas movies.  First on my list is Mickey’s Christmas Carol.   And then there is getting a picture with Santa Claus.  We already had our work Christmas party this year and Karter could not wait to sit on Santa’s lap.

If you were to have one entire day, alone in your house, how would you spend it?
I would sleep for a very long time.  I really do miss sleep.  Then I am sure I would be cleaning my house and maybe do an art project.  I would also call my girlfriends and talk to them for as long as I wanted.  I am sure I would also be missing my husband and K.  I would have to keep the radio or tv on all day because it would be WAY too quiet in the house.
