A trip to Vancouver

A new year. Same old me.

I like Reality T.V.
I love fashion and all things clothes.
I can't have enough shoes.
I love my husband.
My children are the best things to come into my life.
My friends are my family.
My family is my world.
I need to have some 'me' time once and awhile.
I'm really a quiet person.

Those are some of the fundamental things that won't ever change about me.
A New Year always brings resolutions that I usually forget a day later.  Instead of making resolutions this year, I decided to find a code or more so a way of life that I can adopt.  I've made some serious changes in the past 6 months and have kept them thus far.
So when I came across this list by H. Jackson Brown Jr. on Twitter (I follow many ex-Bachelor stars, this one was posted by Canadian Jillian Harris who is tres fashionable and a great interior designer...) anyway, the majority of these points hit home for me.
So this is what I'm going with for 2011.
  1. Marry the right person. This one decision will determine 90% of your happiness or misery. Too late for change there, but I'm sure I'm on the right track.
  2. Work at something you enjoy and that's worthy of your time and talent.  This is where I need to develop a plan for my videography and photography.  I shall work on this one happily.
  3. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully. I would love to be able to do this one often.
  4. Become the most positive and enthusiastic person you know. I find this one difficult with sleep deprivation playing a huge part in my mood...but things can only get better for Lucia and I.
  5. Be forgiving of yourself and others.  Also need to work on this one.
  6. Be generous. Same as #3.
  7. Have a grateful heart. Will continue.
  8. Persistence, persistence, persistence. I am not persistent.  Hmmm......probably why I never stick to my resolutions.
  9. Discipline yourself to save money on even the most modest salary. Also need to work on this.
  10. Treat everyone you meet like you want to be treated. Gladly.
  11. Commit yourself to constant improvement. I'm a teacher. It's in my blood.
  12. Commit yourself to quality.  This I haven't really been focused on. Be prepared for some kick ass crepes and sucre a la creme!
  13. Understand that happiness is not based on possessions, power or prestige, but on relationships with people you love and respect.  Absolutely!  I will continue to nurture and improve those relationships.
  14. Be loyal. Done
  15. Be honest. Will work on it
  16. Be a self-starter. Um, same as #11?
  17. Be decisive even if it means you'll sometimes be wrong. Done.
  18. Stop blaming others. Take responsibility for every area of your life. Tres important.
  19. Be bold and courageous. When you look back on your life, you'll regret the things you didn't do more than the ones you did. True that.
  20. Take good care of those you love. Yes, please.
  21. Don't do anything that wouldn't make your Mom proud. My moto in life. Love you, mommy!
Welcome to 2011!  What will you do with your year?
